Donald Trump on Friday morning once again attacked NFL players in what is becoming a routine when a new season rolls around.
Preseason football officially kicked off Thursday night for a number of teams, and with it so did protesting over racial inequality from some players by kneeling during the national anthem.
The president, who previously referred to any player who kneeled as a “son of a bitch,” attacked players on Twitter Friday, raising the stakes of his insults.
“The NFL players are at it again – taking a knee when they should be standing proudly for the National Anthem. Numerous players, from different teams, wanted to show their ‘outrage’ at something that most of them are unable to define. They make a fortune doing what they love……” the president tweeted.
Trump, via Twitter and during rallies, has gone after NFL players numerous times for their protesting.
In fact, he uninvited the Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles from the White House after he learned few players plan to attended the ceremonial meeting anyway.
Some teams, such as the Cowboys, have made it mandatory that all players stand during the anthem.
In May, NFL team owners approved a new national anthem policy that allows players who wish to protest during the anthem to remain in the locker room until the pregame activities are complete. Those who kneel on the sideline during the anthem will be fined.
