President Donald Trump will be donating his presidential salary to charity, and he wants the media’s help to decide which one.
“The president’s intention is to donate his salary at the end of the year,” White House press secretary Sean Spicer said during Monday’s press briefing. “He kindly asked that you all help determine where that goes.”
Adding, “The way that we can avoid scrutiny is to let the press corps determine where it should go.”
During his first TV interview as president-elect, Trump said on 60 Minutes that he didn’t plan to collect the $400,000 salary the U.S. president typically receives, nor will he take a vacation.
“I think his view is he made a pledge to the America people,” Spicer said Monday. “He wants to donate it to charity, and he’d love your help to determine where it should go.”
