PR vet Sharan Magnuson exiting WBTV

Departure triggered by ongoing medical issues

Sharan Magnuson, one of the TV industry's top public-relations executives, is leaving the business because of health reasons.

Magnuson was at Warner Bros. TV for the past 12 years, most recently serving as senior vp worldwide publicity, overseeing publicity for all Warner Bros. TV Group's production and distribution divisions.

Her departure was triggered by ongoing medical issues that resulted in four cervical-disc replacement surgeries in fewer than four years and sidelined her for months at a time.

She will focus on her health for the time being but doesn't rule out a return to the business if her condition improves.

"It was my good fortune and an honor to work at two amazing TV companies over the past 23 years," said Magnuson, who worked at Fox for 12 years before going to WBTV.

Magnuson singled out WBTV president Peter Roth, whom she has known for 20 years and worked for during the past 13 -- first at Fox and then at WBTV -- thanking him for his support.

"Sharan's leadership, talents and relationships working with creative talent, executives and the press are matched only by her character, selflessness and extraordinary work ethic," Roth said.

As senior vp worldwide publicity, a position Magnuson has held since 2007, she oversaw publicity for WBTV, Warner Horizon TV, Telepictures, Warner Bros. Animation and Studio 2.0 as well as for WBTVG's domestic, cable and international distribution units.
