Premiere, RTL to share World Cup rights

Premiere takes all 64; RTL as many as 18 games

COLOGNE, Germany -- German pay TV group Premiere and leading commercial channel RTL will split rights for the 2010 soccer World Cup, with Premiere carrying all 64 live matches in the tournament and RTL airing as many as 18 games.

RTL's deal with Premiere will see it air at least nine games, including two second-round matches and one quarterfinals match. RTL has an option for nine other matches.

German Public broadcasters ARD and ZDF have free-TV rights for the bulk of 2010 World Cup games, including all matches involving the German national squad.
