Priyanka Chopra Co-Produces, Features in Indian Mobile Series 'It's My City'
The 'Quantico' star plays the landlady of four young women sharing a Mumbai apartment and partners on the show with Endemol Shine and a company backed by Peter Chernin.
After finishing the first season of ABC's Quantico in the U.S., in which she stars, and winning accolades at home for her turn in Indian blockbuster Bajirao Mastani, Priyanka Chopra is now ready to make headlines with a foray into production.
The actress' banner Purple Pebble Pictures has partnered with Endemol Shine India, celebrity digital network Fluence, backed by Peter Chernin's CA Media, and mobile entertainment app nexGTv for mobile series It's My City.
The 14-part bi-weekly series, which debuts Friday on nexGTv, is described as the story of four women sharing the same apartment “on a journey of life, love and lunacy in Mumbai.” Chopra will also appear on the show “assuming the mantle of an official landlady, unofficial guardian and protective friend,” according to a statement.
Said Chopra: "There is a huge parallel that can be drawn to my own reality, of a young girl coming to Mumbai to literally make my dreams come true. I hope the stories are something the audience will identify with."
Fluence works closely with celebrities to build and grow their online presence across the digital landscape. The venture manages over 30 celebrities, such as Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and actors Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, among others.
CA Media also has a stake in Mumbai-based Endemol Shine India, which has produced successful local versions of such shows as Big Brother, Fear Factor and Deal or No Deal.
The subscription-driven nexGTV app says it has reached more than 25 million downloads offering over 150 TV channels in addition to a content library with over 1,000 film titles and hundreds of TV shows and other video content.
