Pro7, CBS extend licensing deal

Deal includes drama spinoff '90210'

LAS VEGAS -- Germany's ProSiebenSat.1, the largest station group in Europe, has extended a multiyear licensing deal with CBS Paramount International TV.

The volume deal will include the Hollywood major's spinoff "90210" as well as the upcoming mystery series "Harper's Island."

The agreement was unveiled Thursday morning at NATPE by ProSieben execs and by CBS Par's international TV president Armando Nunez.

"CBS stands for hit series like 'NCIS,' 'Medium,' and 'Numbers' and for the new hit '90210' that we are looking forward to," ProSieben board member Andreas Bartl said.

ProSieben, which controls some two dozen stations across the continent, also has long-term program supply agreements with Disney, Warners, Sony, Paramount, MGM, DreamWorks and LucasFilm.

Its main rival in the region, RTL, has ongoing deals with Fox and Universal.

No financial details were forthcoming, but Germany is generally one of the most lucrative markets for the U.S. majors. The deal is arguably one of the largest in dollar terms concluded at the NATPE show, which wraps Thursday.
