Pro7 extends deal with Paramount

Takes German rights to 'Star Trek,' 'Watchmen'

COLOGNE, Germany -- Countering the recent news of cost cuts and debt problems, Pan-European broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 has extended its output deal with Paramount Pictures.

The deal gives ProSieben exclusive free TV rights for German-speaking Europe to upcoming Paramount features including "Star Trek," "Transformers 2" and "Watchmen."

ProSieben also picked up several titles from Paramount's catalog, among them the "Mission: Impossible" and "Beverly Hills Cop" franchises.

ProSieben has been hit hard by an advertising downturn in its core German market. Operating profits plunged 17% in the third quarter, and debt has jumped to $4.8 billion.
