Pro7 inks deal with WBITVD

MUNICH -- ProSiebenSat.1 Group, the German family of channels owned, until recently, by U.S. billionaire Haim Saban, has inked a long-term output deal with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution for the free-TV rights to at least 30 films per year, the company announced Thursday.

A ProSiebenSat.1 spokeswoman said that the deal had a total worth "in the low hundreds of millions" of euros and a term of "several years."

The Leonardo DiCaprio starrer "Blood Diamond," which has sold 600,000 tickets since its opening in the territory on Jan. 25, will be the first film on air, the company said in a statement. Other films in the package include the next two "Harry Potter" films and "Ocean's Thirteen."

The deal also includes an unspecified amount of TV programming from the studio.

ProSiebenSat.1 has similar contracts with most of the major Hollywood studios, including Sony, Paramount, Disney, DreamWorks and Lucasfilm.
