Producer David Puttnam to Receive RAAM's Int'l Award
Prolific career spans 30 years and includes iconic movies "Midnight Express," "Bugsy Malone" and "Memphis Belle."
LONDON -- Chariots of Fire and The Killing Fields producer Lord David Puttnam will be awarded the 2011 International Award by the RAAM Advisory Board at the top British cinema awards for U.K. and Irish cinema operators and distributors, to be held in London on February 9, 2011.
The award recognizes an individual or individuals whose body of work in the film industry celebrates significant international achievements and contributions to the British cinema industry.
Puttnam's career as an independent producer spans 30 years and includes iconic movies like Local Hero, Midnight Express, Bugsy Malone and Memphis Belle.
He retired from film production in 1998 and he now focuses on his work in education, politics and the environment.
Last year's recipient was Danny Boyle, and other previous recipients include Richard Attenborough, Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
