Producer Greg Berlanti and Soccer Star Robbie Rogers Are Married
The couple got engaged in late December 2016.
Love is in the air for prolific producer Greg Berlanti and soccer star Robbie Rogers.
Berlanti, 45, and Rogers, 30, tied the knot on Saturday. Stylist Warren Alfie Baker, who served as Rogers' best man, took to Instagram over the weekend to write, "Today’s the day!!! So excited to see my bestie marrying his hubby to be @gberlanti today!" Baker also teased an image of Rogers' wedding party, which included stylist Sophie Lopez and Los Angeles Galaxy player Brian Rowe. "Pre wedding mini photo shoot we set up at the house in Malibu," reads the photo's caption.
Rogers also revealed to The Hollywood Reporter details about the tuxedos he and Berlanti wore on the day of their wedding.
"Zegna dressed me in a tux [white jacket and black trousers] that was so beautiful and the fabric was so amazing. They dressed both Greg and I," said Rogers while attending the Ermenegildo Zegna Couture XXX collection launch party Tuesday in Beverly Hills. "When I was doing my fittings and going through the Zegna store in Beverly Hills, I really loved seeing their creative direction and where they’re going now. It feels fashion and sporty, which is obviously something I like, so it just felt very comfortable."
The couple announced their engagement via Instagram late last December. "2016 was memorable for many reasons, for me it [w]as the year my heart doubled in size. First, when my son Caleb was born. And second, a few days ago, when I got engaged to my soulmate," Berlanti captioned alongside a selfie of the two in front of a string quartet. "Though I dreamed of both those things happening, I'm not sure I truly believed they were possible. Thanks to the friends and family who helped me find my way to this moment in my blessed life."
Rogers posted the same photo, writing, "I feel extremely lucky and blessed to end 2016 engaged to the love of my life."
The duo have been dating since 2013. In February 2016, they welcomed their son, Caleb Gene Berlanti, via a surrogate.
"There is nothing I've wanted more, or waited for longer, than to be a father. Achieving this dream would not have been possible without the love and support of my wonderful family and surrogate, incredible boyfriend, amazing friends and co-workers that encouraged me and helped me on this remarkable journey," the producer expressed at the time.
Rogers, who played for the L.A. Galaxy, announced last month his retirement from MLS after 11 years. He was the first openly gay male athlete to compete in a North American professional sports league.
Berlanti most recently made history by having the most scripted series currently in the works; his roster includes The CW's Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning and Riverdale; ABC's upcoming magic drama Deception; NBC's Blindspot; Lifetime's straight-to-series thriller You; DC's forthcoming digital SVOD live-action drama Titans; and the recent Netflix order of Riverdale offshoot Sabrina.
Congrats to the couple!
