ProSiebenSat.1 forms production company

Red Seven Ent. tapped for nonfiction, Web content

MUNICH -- German commercial broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 has set up a new production company called Red Seven Entertainment to create light nonfiction entertainment programming and Web content for the pan-European TV group, the company announced Wednesday.

A wholly-owned subsidiary of ProSiebenSat.1 Media, Red Seven will be run by ProSieben's current head of entertainment and deputy managing director, Jobst Benthues, who will continue in his position.

The new production arm will be a part of Jan Frouman's content acquisitions and production unit at the parent company.

Benthues, who has been at ProSieben since 1995, is responsible for such successful shows as "Germany's Next Top Model," "The Next Uri Geller" and "Beat Your Host," a homegrown format sold to Warner Bros. Television.
