Protesters Clash With Police in Hollywood

One person was reportedly arrested

A group of roughly 50 protesters clashed with police Friday, blocking the intersection of La Brea Ave. and Sunset Blvd.  The protesters were demonstrating against police killings of unarmed black men in New York and Missouri.

Photojournalist Bryan Hayes streamed part of the protests live, with a demonstrator telling Hayes police ordered them out of the street and on to the sidewalk. ABC 7 reported that at least one person was arrested. Police temporarily closed nearby streets shortly after 9 p.m. and reopened it at roughly 9:20 p.m. The protesters had assembled in downtown Los Angeles earlier in the day.

L.A. has seen intermittent protests following a grand jury's decision not to indict a police officer in the killing of Ferguson, Missouri teen Michael Brown on Nov. 24, which was followed by a New York jury deciding not to indict the police officer who killed Eric Garner, an unarmed black man killed when the officer placed him in a choke hold during an attempted arrest.
