Publicists fete Sony pair with Showman nod
EmptyThe ICG Publicists will honor Sony's Michael Lynton and Amy Pascal as co-recipients of the Motion Picture Showman of the Year award.
The publicists, who are part of the International Cinematographers Guild Local 600 of the IATSE, will bestow the award at their 44th annual gala, set for Feb. 7 at the Beverly Hilton.
"With more than $1.3 billion in North American ticket sales, Sony is enjoying an outstanding year at the boxoffice," said Henri Bollinger, chairman of the guild's awards committee. "Amy and Michael deserve to be recognized for their leadership and showmanship."
Sony has had a record 12 films hit No. 1 at the boxoffice so far this year, including "The Da Vinci Code," "The Pink Panther," "Click" and "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby."
Lynton is chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Pascal is SPE co-chairman. Last year, Warner Bros. executives Barry Meyer and Alan Horn shared the Showman award.
