Quebec Pics Dominate Toronto Fest Top 10 for 2010

Denis Villineuve's "Incendies" and Xavier Dolans' "Les Amours Imaginaires" lead the Toronto International Film Festival's list.


TORONTO -- Denis Villineuve's Incendies and Xavier Dolans' Les Amours Imaginaires lead the Toronto International Film Festival's top 10 films for 2010 after another strong year for Quebec film.

Other French-language pics dominating TIFF's picks are Denis Cote's Curling and Trois temps apres la mort d'Anna, by Catherine Martin.

English language films anointed by Toronto include Vincenzo Natali's Splice, Deborah Chow's The High Cost of Living, Lixin Fan's Last Train Home, Ingrid Veninger's Modra, Barney's Version by Richard J. Lewis, and Bruce McDonald's Trigger.

The TIFF top 10 list, which aims to raise awareness of Canadian films among ordinary cinema-goers, will include screenings at Bell Lightbox in Toronto between Jan. 20 and Feb. 1.
