Quebecor taps Nesbitt
EmptyTORONTO -- Quebec media giant Quebecor Media Inc. said Wednesday that it has moved new-media expert Mike Nesbitt from its Toronto over-the-air TV station, Sun TV, to a new role in which he is charged with integrating its Toronto Sun daily newspaper into a groupwide convergence strategy.
Nesbitt will assume the newly created position of GM of new media at the Toronto Sun after serving as general manager of operations at Sun TV since 2002.
Nesbitt has been charged with creating cross-platform opportunities between the Toronto Sun and Quebecor Media's other properties, including Sun TV, its free daily newspaper and Web portal Canoe.
In recent years, Montreal-based Quebecor Media, which operates Quebec cable giant Groupe Videotron Ltd., has attempted to turn its varied media assets into one multiplatform brand.
Before joining Sun TV, Nesbitt did executive stints at Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, Calgary-based CKAL TV and Toronto-based Citytv.
