Watch 'Queer Eye's' Tan France Makeover Pete Davidson's "Guido Trash" Look
"Is [Staten Island] where you're from? That explains so much!"
"Can I say whatever I want and you're not going to get mad?" That's how Tan France — fashion expert on Netflix's 2018 reboot of Queer Eye — eased into tackling his latest subject, Saturday Night Live's Pete Davidson. "Do you put this stuff on for attention?"
The questions set the tone for the playful (and hilarious) makeover of SNL's "resident young person," whose self-described "Guido trash" style is, to quote France, "a lot."
The four-minute video may be short — but don't worry, there's plenty of time to discuss the ails of briefs ("they divide the balls," says Davidson, "it's uncomfortable"), the cost of Saks Fifth Avenue mannequins ("$3,000 a pop," according to France) and the colors Davidson should avoid when hanging out with girlfriend Cazzie David's "cool family." (For those who don't know, Cazzie is the daughter of Larry David, who is definitely cool but arguably not the trendiest. Just saying.)
And if you had any doubt of France's qualifications as a fashion expert (the way some have questioned culinary guru Antoni Porowski's expertise) just watch his eagle eyes find the tiniest of holes in Davidson's Hilfiger boxers.
"It's so funny, I thought I was like, kind of dressing well, but it's so nice to know that I've been dressing like shit," Davidson earnestly professes to France. "Someone has to tell me!"
