Quincy Jones is set to receive the Icon Award at the 2021 Music Supervisors Guild Awards.

The veteran producer, composer and entrepreneur will be recognized for his legendary contributions to the music and film industry.

Past recipients of the award include Burt Bacharach, Kenny Loggins and Marc Shaiman. Jones will be honored alongside the recipient of the guild's Legacy Award, given to a music supervisor who has made an impact within the industry over the course of their career.

Throughout his career, Jones has also taken on the roles of artist, instrumentalist, arranger, conductor, record company executive and humanitarian. He's created musical hybrids incorporating pop, soul, hip-hop, jazz, classical, African and Brazilian music.

Jones has won multiple Grammys, an Emmy and a Tony and received the Oscars' Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.

“On behalf of the Guild of Music Supervisors we are thrilled by the privilege to be able to honor the great Quincy Jones with the GMS Icon award this year,” Guild of Music Supervisors president Joel C. High said in a statement. “He exemplifies the nature of this award as an artist who has truly set the path in using music to help tell stories. Quincy has influenced and inspired many in our industry and we look forward to celebrating his legacy with this award.”

The 11th annual Guild of Music Supervisors Awards is set to take place as a virtual event, with live and pre-recorded performances, on April 11.

“This year, we have to do things a bit differently,” said GMS vice president Madonna Wade-Reed. “We see this as an opportunity to celebrate the great Quincy Jones and the Best of Music Supervision not only locally in Los Angeles, but nationwide and at the end globally, really. We want to bring our community together for this one night to celebrate and have fun.”
