Rachel McAdams set for ShoWest nod

Actress will be honored as female star of the year

Rachel McAdams, who next will be seen in Universal's political thriller "State of Play," will be honored as female star of the year at ShoWest 2009.

McAdams will be feted at an awards gala set to close the annual exhibition confab April 2. ShoWest opens Monday at the Bally's and Paris hotels in Las Vegas.

"Since capturing the attention of Hollywood with her breakout role in 'Mean Girls,' Rachel McAdams has continued to impress audiences with her versatility," ShoWest co-managing director Mitch Neuhauser said. "From the satirical humor of that film, to the romance of 'The Notebook,' to the suspense of 'Red Eye,' to the outrageous comedy of 'Wedding Crashers,' McAdams has proven that she has the natural ability and depth to take on roles of all dimensions and that she is a true force to be reckoned with in Hollywood. McAdams brings a true sense of grace and beauty to each of her roles."

Produced by Working Title, "State of Play" also stars Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck and Helen Mirren. It opens April 17.

Adams stars opposite Eric Bana in Warner Bros.' romantic drama "The Time Traveler's Wife," set for an Aug. 14 opening, and also will be seen in Warners' Christmas release "Sherlock Holmes."
