Rachel Weisz Signs With WME (Exclusive)
She has five films in the works, including Cannes entries ‘Youth’ and ‘The Lobster.’
Rachel Weisz has signed with WME, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. She previously was with CAA.
The Oscar winner has no fewer than five upcoming features in the pipeline, starting with this year’s Cannes competition selections The Lobster, which won the jury prize, and Youth. Alchemy has picked up U.S. rights for the former film, while Fox Searchlight aims to release the latter in North America this December.
Weisz is also starring opposite Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander in Derek Cianfrance’s adaptation of the M.L. Stedman novel The Light Between Oceans for DreamWorks, which was shot last fall in New Zealand. This spring in New York she shot an untitled drama for writer/director Joshua Marston, in which she plays an old flame of Michael Shannon’s who suddenly reappears in his life.
And finally, this summer Weisz is filming director James Marsh’s (The Theory of Everything), take on the real-life story of British businessman and amateur yacht racer Donald Crowhurst (played by Colin Firth). Weisz stars as Crowhurst’s wife in the untitled film from Blueprint Pictures, Scott Z. Burns and France’s Galatee Films. StudioCanal and BBC Films are financing the project.
