This is Why Rachel Zoe Opened an Office Nursery
The celeb stylist calls the nursery, "one of the best business decisions I’ve ever made."
As the mother of two young boys herself, Rachel Zoe knows the importance of family time. So last year when she learned that five women on her staff were expecting within a few months of each other, Zoe's immediate reaction was to build an office nursery.
"I wanted to create an environment where these new mothers wouldn’t have to make a choice between career and motherhood," Zoe wrote in a post on The Zoe Report. I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to grow my company from just a few people to more than 40 while having my kids (and my husband) by my side, and so I knew I had to do everything in my power to give my staff that same luxury."
The working mom expanded: "Seeing how motivated and committed the mothers on my team were after returning from maternity leave and being able to set up their babies in the nursery has only solidified my belief that every company should consider this option."
The 43-year-old also describes the benefits of the office arrangement in light of gender discrimination in the workplace, and advises readers to "never apologize for being dedicated to your kids and challenge those around you to not only acknowledge, but celebrate your ability to be a mother and an asset in the workplace."
