'Rainbow' wins Crystal Bear

Children's fim is about a boy obsessed with space travel
BERLIN -- Alex Law's "Echoes of the Rainbow," the story of a boy in Hong Kong in 1969 who is obsessed with space travel, won this year's Crystal Bear for the best film running in the Berlinale's Generation Kplus section for children's films.
Thomas Burstyn's "This Way of Life," a documentary centered on a single Maori family, received a special mention from the Generation Kplus jury. Another New Zealand feature about the Maori, Takia Waititi's drama "Boy," won the Grand Prix of the German Kinderhilfswerk. Special mention was given to Qunie Lecomte's Korean orphanage drama "A Brand New Life."
