Raindance Festival finds a new venue

Apollo Piccadilly Circus to be exclusive venue

LONDON -- This year's Raindance Film Festival has a new home signing an agreement with Apollo Cinema Piccadilly Circus for the theater to play host to the shindig.

The U.K.-based festival, which sets itself apart from other fests here by focusing on discoveries, innovation and indie filmmaking, will unspool from Sept. 30 through Oct. 11 this year in the venue, organizers and Apollo Cinemas said.

Apollo Piccadilly Circus cinema will be the exclusive host with two of the five screens dedicated to showing Raindance's 200-plus features and short films along with special events, Q&A screenings and master classes.

Apollo Cinemas commercial director Julia Brown said: "The cinema is a fantastic venue for the festival and we are excited about working with such dynamic supporters of independent film."

Raindance Film Festival founder Elliot Grove said the move to one venue will provide "a central focus point for filmmakers and industry professionals."

In previous years the opening and closing films have been at Cineworld on Shaftesbury Ave. with other venues dotted around the capital.
