2012-36 TOWN Fellini Satyricon H

Why do Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have a big credit on the newly restored version of Frederico Fellini's Fellini Satyricon (1969), debuting Oct. 13 at the New York Film Festival? Pictured: An image from the newly restored "Fellini Satyricon."

Rhea of Light: When Rhea Perlman arrived without husband Danny DeVito at the 30th anniversary Cheers reunion Oct. 6 at Bouchon in Beverly Hills, party insiders say there was no indication the couple's split would make national news two days later. "Nobody was buzzing," says one guest. "We had no clue. She was upbeat and bubbly and chipper." The event, which brought together most of the cast, crew, producers and executives for the first time since the series went off the air, saw toasts following the screening of a 40-minute highlight reel. Kirstie Alley announced she'd just finished her tell-all book ("I have a lot of chapters on all of you guys"), George Wendt told of recurring dreams of still being on the show, and Shelley Long confessed, "It certainly has been 30 years -- because I don't look like that anymore!"

The Year of the Pigeon

When it comes to onscreen animals, last year's Oscar season was owned by Uggie. But can a pigeon capture the attention this year? One of the most amazing scenes -- and the most difficult to film -- in the Austrian foreign-language Oscar entry Amour is when a pigeon flies through an apartment window and 81-year-old Jean-Louis Trintignant has to trap it. The film's director Michael Haneke tells THR how he did it: "We had a pigeon wrangler on set, but the scene still took two days. They tried to trick the pigeon into following a line of seeds on the floor, but that didn't quite work out. In the end, we had three different pigeons. They can only take direction up to a point." Trintignant admitted earlier this year that the director wasn't pleased: "He didn't think the pigeon was very good; he made it do things again and again." Someone call the pigeon union.

A Posh Pair

What could hold more weight in the fashion world -- despite them both being rail-thin -- than the combo of Anna Wintour and Victoria Beckham? We hear the Brits will team to host a dinner Oct. 25 in L.A., combining two formerly separate events -- a dinner for the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund and the British Fashion Council's London Showrooms dinner. It will welcome such Brit designers as Jonathan Saunders and Mary Katrantzou for their Hollywood showing of clothes to stylists. Vogue only confirms it's holding a dinner with the BFC.

Charlie Sheen, Steamed

Charlie Sheen recently was observed at the Miraval resort in Tucson, Ariz., for 10 days, say guests who saw him wandering the premises clad in just his robe. One day, two of them hit the steam room only to find Sheen ensconced, smoking a cigarette. When they politely asked him not to smoke in there, he took a huge drag on said cig and said, "What are you going to do, arrest me?" -- and continued to smoke.

La Dolce & Gabbana Vita

Why do Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have a big credit on the newly restored version of Frederico Fellini's Fellini Satyricon (1969), debuting Oct. 13 at the New York Film Festival? "Italian cinema by Fellini, Visconti, Antonioni and Rossellini has enabled us to dream and inspired our fashion and images," say the designers in a statement. Turns out, they funded a great deal of the years-long project, then based looks of their fall 2012 collection on it. The fashion house, THR has learned, will host a party afterward, which it rarely does in the States, with lots of Dolce-wearing stars flown in. Unfortunately, the designers can't make it because they have a previous commitment.

Power Lunch

Kate Mantilini, celebrating its 25th anniversary, remains a hotbed.
