Ramirez has killer role in 3rd 'Bourne'

Edgar Ramirez has been targeted for a role in "The Bourne Ultimatum," Universal Pictures' latest installment of the adventures of amnesiac spy hero Jason Bourne. Paul Greengrass is directing the movie, currently shooting in Europe.

Matt Damon is back as Bourne, and Joan Allen and Julia Stiles are back as well. David Strathairn and Paddy Considine also have joined the cast.

The story revolves around assassin Bourne uncovering mysteries of his past, which puts him in the cross-hairs of a superkiller. Ramirez is playing the superkiller.

Gael Garcia Bernal was in negotiations to play the role but a deal could not be reached (HR 10/3).

Tony Gilroy, Tom Stoppard, Scott Burns and Paul Attanasio worked on the script.

"Ultimatum" is being produced by Frank Marshall, Patrick Crowley and Paul L. Sandberg.

South American actor Ramirez might be best known to North American audiences for his work in "Domino," the Tony Scott-directed thriller starring Keira Knightley. He recently wrapped production on the Sony feature "Vantage Point," directed by Pete Travis and produced by Neil Moritz.

Ramirez is repped by Endeavor, Handprint Entertainment and Hirsch, Wallerstein, Matlof & Fishman.
