Rapper Eyedea Dead at 28

Found dead in bed Saturday morning one night after performance.

Micheal Larsen, better known to independent hip-hop fans by his MC name Eyedea, died Saturday morning. He was just 28.

His mother, Kathy Averill, found his body Saturday morning in his St. Paul, Minnesota home. She told the Minneapolis Star Tribune she thinks he died in his sleep, but she’s awaiting an autopsy. "He was doing great and had a lot of things going on in his life," she said.

Larsen had been a member of the group Rhymesayers since 2002, which he often led to wins at rap battles around the country. His crew was too shocked to comment on his death.

He had reportedly been in good health, and even performed with L.A.-based rapper Pigeon John Friday night at a St. Paul bar.
