French brand Caudalie, founded by Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas, celebrated the opening of its West Coast flagship, complete with a treatment room and mani/pedi stations.

Boasting an eco-friendly mattress shop and more pressed juice options than you can shake a stick at, it was only a matter of time before Venice’s Abbot Kinney added a luxury skincare boutique and spa to its mix.

French brand Caudalie beat everyone to the punch, debuting its West Coast flagship Wednesday with a jam-packed extravaganza Wednesday night that spilled onto the stony street. Julianne Hough, Melonie Diaz, Rashida Jones and Jena Malone joined co-founders Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas to celebrate the affair, sipping on wine from the family vineyard in France as they perused the offerings from the vinotherapie-based skincare line, including a tinted moisturizer, mineral bronzer, and two fragrances exclusive to the location. Highlights of the space include a treatment room and three plush mani/pedi stations, featuring fully reclinable chairs that practically beg patrons to indulge in add-on mini facial during their nail treatments.

“[Abbot Kinney] feels like a mini vacation,” mused Jones. “I like Steven Alan and Gjelina. I love Caudalie products and I’m really happy they have a spa down here. It’s just one more reason to come.”

“There’s nothing like it. There’s the ocean next to it, there’s this cool vibe, and it reminds us of the old Europe,” said Mathilde of the boutique-spa hybrid, the company's third in the United States following in the footsteps of two locations in New York. “This street has a soul,” added Thomas.

And the couple has picked up a newfound hobby to go with their West Coast flagship -- surfing. Mathilde and Bertrand are already experts when it comes to beach product must-haves, too. “My SPF 50 sunscreen, and Divine Oil to protect my hair from the salt,” said Mathilde. Spoken like a true Venetian.
