RDF preps American 'French Kiss'
Company nabs rights to 'kissing contest' seriesRDF USA has acquired rights to the unscripted format "French Kiss."
RDF has made a deal with Adventure Line Prods. for rights to the French series, billed as "the ultimate kissing contest."
In the original, five French men were dropped in Miami and challenged to kiss as many girls as possible. With no money and almost no possessions, they tried to stay presentable and win a cash prize.
The concept is being reworked for a North American audience. Details are being kept under wraps, but producers said they want to heighten the stakes.
"The format is pure, escapist fun -- the entire time you're thinking, 'I can't believe they just did that,' " said Karrie Wolfe, senior vp at RDF USA, also a producer on ABC's "Wife Swap" and Fox's "Don't Forget the Lyrics" and "Secret Millionaire."
