RealNetworks posts wider Q2 loss

Lower sales in technology, games and software

U.S. digital media company RealNetworks Inc (RNWK.O) posted a slightly sharper than expected fall in revenue and a wider net loss for the second quarter after declines in sales of technology products, games and media software.

The Seattle-based company, which delivers entertainment to personal computers and mobile devices, said its second-quarter net loss widened to $188.3 million, or $1.40 per share, compared with a net loss of $1.3 million, or 1 cent per share, a year earlier.

Revenue fell 11% from a year earlier to $135.7 million, versus an average expectation for $136.25 million, according to Reuters Estimates.

Real Network's shares traded flat at $3.06 after-hours.
