Celeb makeup artist and groomer Lucy Halperin gives tips on how nominated actors can look their best on Oscars night — razor-burn free and all.

It's no secret that stars have a glam squad to help them get red-carpet ready for Hollywood's biggest awards shows, including the Golden Globes and Oscars. And no one knows that more than celebrity makeup artist and groomer Lucy Halperin, who works with Oscar nominee Steve Carell and Jason Bateman, among other A-listers.

"To me, red carpet is all about glamour," Halperin tells Pret-a-Reporter. "It's just upping the antics and really making an effort, wearing fantastic clothes and wearing great makeup and hair."

So what tip does she most often give her male clients for getting ready? "Moisturize your face, cleanse your face, [use] very good quality products and use good razors as well," says Halperin, who recommends that guys shave a couple hours before an event to avoid razor-burn, because "it gives your skin time to settle down."

Most importantly, Halperin says guys should "look their best" and "have confidence because you don't want to open the paper the next morning and be one of the top 10 worst-dressed."
