'Red Cliff' to kick-start Tokyo fest

This year's event will have an ecological theme

TOKYO -- The 21st annual Tokyo International Film Festival will run Oct. 18-26 and feature more than 200 films, including opening night film "Red Cliff," the Chinese historical epic from John Woo.

Beyond disclosing the opening film and expected number of screenings, few details were forthcoming from organizers on Thursday. The festival will sport an eco-theme, with green carpets and nature themes appearing in the festival's content and decor.

The Sakura grand prize will once again return, but its monetary value has yet to be determined by organizers and sponsors.
