Reese Witherspoon Doesn't Wear Gucci to Gucci Event
The LACMA Art + Film Gala was sponsored by Gucci, which dressed many stars but the actress went her own way with a hot new fashion label.
So what was that chic LBD Reese Witherspoon was wearing at the LACMA Gala on Saturday November 5? Gucci was a presenting sponsor of the event that honored Clint Eastwood and John Baldesssari, so they sent many reps from New York, and dresses as well: Evan Rachel Wood, Zoe Saldana, Camilla Belle, Olivia Wilde, Kate Beckinsale, Kate Hudson and Jon Hamm all wore brand new next season Gucci. But Reese wore her own Cushnie et Ochs resort 2012 dress that fit her like Hubert de Givenchy's LBD's fit Audrey.
Who are Cusnie et Ochs? They are Carly Cushnie, a graduate of Parsons, who was on the design teams of Donna Karan, Proenza Schouler and Oscar de la Renta. Michelle Ochs also went to Parsons, and then worked with Marc Jacobs and Chado Ralph Rucci.
Their first season designing their own line as a team was spring 2009; and since then, they've stuck to their guns of created body conscious shapely little cocktail dresses.
They even showed the spring collection in L.A. with the CFDA/Vogue fund event, and all the celebrities who were present ooohed and aahhhhed at this collection.
We predict more Cushnie et Ochs on the Hollywood red carpet very soon. Luckily, stylists are breaking out of their mold, finally, and trying some young new designers who don't have huge names -- yet.
