Regency goes 'Down River' with Turner

Regency is going "Down River," pre-emptively picking up the adventure thriller pitch from Sheldon Turner in a seven-figure deal. Jennifer Klein is producing through her Apartment 3B Prods. shingle.

The story revolves around four twentysomething masters of the corporate world who decide to go on an actual adventure trip to the Amazon rather than on a high-class trip where you pretend to rough it. Things go awry when their tour guide is killed and the men have to face not only dangerous wildlife and tribesmen but also one another.

Turner came up with the idea for an adult "Lord of the Flies" after hearing stories of studio executives crowing about their annual "roughing it" nature trips that always ended up with the men retiring in the evenings to plush, Four Seasons-like lodgings.

Adam Schroeder is overseeing for Regency.

Turner ("The Amityville Horror") also wrote the "X-Men" spinoff "Magneto" for Fox. He and Klein have "Orbit" set up at Fox 2000, with Tom Bezucha attached to direct, and "Two Minutes to Midnight" at Fox.

Turner is repped by CAA and attorney David Fox.
