Relativity Eyes Summer Release for 'Judy Moody'
Relativity Media will market and distribute Smokewood Entertainment's kids pic Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer in the U.S., with plans to release the film this summer.
The film is based on Megan McDonald's best-selling children's book series, illustrated by Peter H. Reynolds and published by Candlewick Press.
Directed by John Schultz, the big screen adaptation stars Australian actress Jordana Beatty in the title role of Judy Moody.
McDonald penned the script with Kathy Waugh.
Producers are Smokewood's Sarah Siegel-Magness and Gary Magness. Duo's previous producing credits include Precious: Based on the Novel by Sapphire.
Bobbi Sue Luther and Andrew Sugerman are exec producing Judy Moody, while CAA brokered the domestic rights deal on behalf of Smokewood.
The film chronicles Judy Moody's determination to have the most thrilling summer of her life, aided by her brother Stink (Parris Mosteller) and fun-loving Aunt Opal (Heather Graham).
