Relativity to Handle U.S. Distribution, Marketing for 'Immortals'

Relativity Media will now market and release 3D Greek Gods epic Immortals domestically instead of Universal. Film’s release date of Nov. 11, 2011 stays the same.
Universal remains a partner on the big-budget pic, and will distribute Immortals overseas.
Directed by Tarsem Singh, Immortals stars Henry Cavill, Mickey Rourke, Stephen Dorff, Isabel Lucas, Freida Pinto and Luke Evans.
In Immortals, the ruthless King Hyperion (Rourke) leads his bloodthirsty army on a murderous rampage across Greece to find a deadly weapon that will destroy humanity. A mortal chosen by Zeus named Theseus (Cavill) must lead the fight against Hyperion and his evil army with the fate of mankind and the Gods at stake.
Immortals is produced by Mark Canton (300), Gianni Nunnari (Shutter Island) and Ryan Kavanaugh (Dear John), and executive produced by Tucker Tooley (Dear John), Tommy Turtle (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), and Jeff G. Waxman (Law Abiding Citizen).
The deal allowing Relativity to release the film in North America has been in the works for weeks. When the project was set up at Universal, Relativity didn’t have its own domestic distribution operation.
Immortals was penned by Charles Parlapanides and Vlas Parlapanides.
