Relativity Inks Output Deal With Spanish Indie Tripictures

Tripictures seals four-year distribution pact with Relativity for all films it develops, produces and finances.

MADRID -- Spanish independent Tripictures has signed a four-year exclusive distribution pact with Relativity for all films the company develops, produces and finances.

"This deal with Tripictures is in keeping with our international distribution strategy of establishing long-term partnerships with the best independent distributors in each territory. We are looking forward to working closely with Tripictures," said Relativity's president of corporate development and strategy Andrew Marcus.

Relativity produces between eight to 10 films a year and expects to grow in the coming year. Relativity's The Fighter was released by Tripictures in Spain on Feb. 4 and earned over $691,000 in the opening weekend.

"We are very happy with this new collaboration. Spain is a vital market and we are lucky to be in business with Tripictures, a leading distributor that understands and is committed to the country's audiences," said Relativity's financial director and director of operations Steve Bertram, who oversees international distribution for the U.S. company.

Also scheduled for release in 2011: Season of the Witch, Take me Home Tonight, Limitless, Immortals and David Ellis' newly acquired 3D shark thriller.

"We're very happy to begin this relationship with Relativity. We hope to have great success with their films in the coming years," Tripictures president Felipe Ortiz said.
