Relativity Media Launches Television Sales and Distribution Unit

David Spiegelman has been tapped to lead the unit, with a deal already in place to air films on slew of cable networks.

Relativity Media has launched a Television Sales and Digital Distribution division, company president Michael Joe said Thursday, with agreements in place to distribute several of its theatrical releases to networks including Turner and MTV.

Led by David Spiegelman, president of Domestic Television and Digital Distribution, the unit has licensed such Relativity releases as Limitless, Take Me Home Tonight, Skyline, I Love You Phillip Morris and Shark Night 3D, among others, to networks including Turner, Spike TV, Comedy Central, Syfy, G4, MTV, Logo and Telemundo.

"Relativity continues to fortify its infrastructure as a fully integrated studio by adding Television Sales and Digital Distribution to its repertoire," Joe said. "David Spiegelman brings a wealth of experience and expertise in this arena, and has impressively launched this division while closing key deals with networks and providers in a short amount of time.”

Spiegelman joined Relativity in fall 2010 and noted that the company is "committed to being on the cutting-edge of digital distribution and leading the charge in this fast-moving arena."

Relativity has committed to, produced and/or financed more than 200 films -- including The Social Network, Salt and Zombieland -- and its releases have a worldwide box office cume of more than $15 billion.
