Remstar Acquires 'The Voices' With Ryan Reynolds for Canada

Director Marjane Satrapi, the filmmaker behind "Persepolis," makes her English-language debut with the horror-comedy, which also stars Anna Kendrick and Gemma Arterton.

TORONTO – Remstar Films has picked up the Canadian rights to Marjane Satrapi's The Voices after its Sundance premiere.

The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Gemma Arterton and Anna Kendrick, and will be released stateside by Lionsgate.

The Voices, written by Michael R. Perry, portrays a genial but disturbed factory worker named Jerry (Reynolds) who has a crush on a co-worker (Arterton).

Jerry's attentions turn dangerous when he succumbs to the voices only he can hear from his cat and dog, which ultimately drive him down a twisted, criminal path.

The film's deal for Canada was hammered out between Remstar Films and Panorama.
