Remstar Takes Canadian Rights to Andrew Dominik's Marilyn Monroe Pic 'Blonde'

The Canadian indie distributor will release the Jessica Chastain starrer adapted from Joyce Carol Oates' fictionalized biography of the late starlet.

TORONTO – Remstar Films has picked up Canadian rights to Andrew Dominik's Blonde, which stars Jessica Chastain and chronicles the inner life of Marilyn Monroe.

The indie distributor completed the deal with Wild Bunch for the pic produced by Plan B's Dede Gardner and Brad Pitt and adapted from Joyce Carol Oates’ fictionalized biography of the late Hollywood starlet.

Blonde joins Remstar's upcoming slate that includes Dark Places, directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner and starring Charlize Theron and Chloe Grace Moretz, Andrew Niccol’s Good Kill, Marjane Satrapi’s The Voices and Abel Ferrara’s Welcome to New York.

Remstar, which cashed in on the Canadian release of Jean-Marc Vallee's Dallas Buyers Club, also is partnering with Elevation Pictures to release Michel HazanaviciusThe Search, his follow-up to The Artist.
