Black Klansman screenwriters David Rabinowitz and Charlie Wachtel have signed with WME. The duo’s debut feature, adapted from Ron Stallworth’s 2014 autobiography of the same name, will be produced by Spike Lee, Jordan Peele and Jason Blum, with Focus Features distributing. Both hailing from East Brunswick, N.J., Wachtel began his career as an assistant for Hollywood firms such as UTA, Benaroya Pictures, Weed Road and Echo Lake, then became a copywriter. Rabinowitz started as a multimedia producer for The Wall Street Journal and has worked as a freelance video editor, copywriter and motion graphics artist.
Jude Law has signed with publicity firm 42West. The two-time Oscar nominee recently starred in HBO’s The Young Pope and Warner Bros.’ King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. He’ll next appear as Woody Allen’s avatar in the filmmaker’s upcoming movie and as a young Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2.
Survivor’s Remorse’s RonReaco Lee has signed with Atlanta-based AGS Media for management. As ambitious manager-cousin Reggie Vaughn in the Starz basketball comedy, Lee earned an NAACP Image nomination for outstanding actor in a comedy series as well as an NAMIC Vision nomination for best comedy performance. Lee’s other credits include USA’s Complications and BET’s Let’s Stay Together. He continues to be represented by APA and attorney Rick Genow at Stone Genow.
Big Frame manager Stephanie Piza has moved to Flip Management, where she will work closely with founder Lisa Filipelli for clients including Kian Lawley and Jc Caylen, in addition to her own clients, including Jay Versace and Elisa Johnson. “Stephanie has been an invaluable teammate, and I am thrilled to welcome her to the Flip Management team,” Filipelli said in a statement. “With her help and knowledge of the traditional new media space, we will continue to reach for higher levels and define the next generation of talent.”
Gloria Content, the Los Angeles- and Mexico City-based production company co-founded by Diego Luna, has signed Brazilian-American director Gandja Monteiro for commercial and branded entertainment in the U.S. She has directed commercials and other content for brands including Nike, Coca-Cola, AT&T, Chevrolet, Smirnoff and MasterCard, and her work spans multiple languages and more than a dozen countries across four continents.
The New York City native graduated from the LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts and then NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and she is a member of the American Film Institute’s 2018 Directing Workshop for Women. She has directed an episode of HBO’s docuseries Youth as well as a narrative short, Almost Every Day, which screened at Tribeca and the Palm Springs Film Festival. Previously represented by Hungry Man, Zola Films and Prodigo Films, Monteiro is currently working on a female-led sci-fi short.
