A post-Resolution resurrection
The Walking Dead alum Sarah Wayne Callies has signed with ICM. She was previously at Resolution, where she was repped by Joey Stanton, who joined CAA earlier this week. Callies recently starred in Warner Bros.’ tornado pic Into the Storm and is shooting Voltage thriller Pay the Ghost opposite Nicolas Cage. The former Prison Break star also landed the female lead in USA’s Carlton Cuse alien drama pilot Colony, opposite Josh Holloway. She also is repped by Brian Medavoy at More/Medavoy Management.
UTA Hearts Costanzo
Hungry Hearts director Saverio Costanzo has signed with his first-ever agency, UTA. The Italian helmer’s psychological drama, which he also wrote, earned him special recognition, as well as top acting awards for stars Adam Driver and Alba Rohrwacher, at Venice in September. IFC Films acquired the movie’s North American rights at AFM this week. Costanzo’s 2010 film The Solitude of Prime Numbers was also a Venice competition film, and his first feature drama, Private, won the Golden Leopard at Locarno in 2004. Last year Costanzo directed the Italian version of TV drama In Treatment for Sky Cinema.
New agency gets classic rights
Feature rights to the 1980s action drama MacGyver are being shopped around by startup agency Artists’ Collaborative Management. MacGyver creator Lee David Zlotoff approached the nine-month-old boutique literary firm in July 2014 after New Line’s option expired (CBS Television Distribution has the TV rights). Zlotoff was impressed by ACM principal Rich Luna’s passion for the series. Although Luna is mum for now on who he’s met with, he says, “I would only agree to represent such a valuable property if I had a clear idea of whom I could take it to, who had the vision and ability to execute it with the right sensibility.”
Opening a Door to the West Coast
New York-based The Door Marketing Group has opened a Los Angeles office, tapping Food & Wine publicist Erika Gable to lead as senior vice president. The new branch’s clients include James Beard Award-winning chef Charles Phan of San Francisco’s The Slanted Door and Food Network chef Marcela Valladolid. The Door, which also has offices in Chicago and Philadelphia, specializes in TV, music and food/lifestyle personalities who include inaugural client Rachael Ray, HGTV’s The Property Brothers and Scott McGillivray, model Gigi Hadid, musical artists The Piano Guys and Andy Grammer, chefs Marc Forgione and John Besh and restaurateur Stephen Starr.
