Restored 'Bicycle Thief' rolls to Venice fest

Will mark 60th anniversary of film's release

ROME -- A restored version of Vittorio De Sica's postwar classic "The Bicycle Thief" will screen at this year's Venice Film Festival, marking the 60th anniversary of the film's release.

The Oscar-nominated film was restored with funding from the Casino on the Venice Lido -- one of De Sica's favorite hangouts and one of the main buildings used by the venerable festival, which will run Aug. 27-Sept. 6.
