Revenue climbs at Germany’s CinemaxX

But one-off effects push company into the red

CANNES -- Revenue at German multiplex operator CinemaxX rose about 4% to €180.4 million ($240 million) in 2008 as improved ticket sales more than made up for a drop in advertising.

More than 17 million people went to a movie at a CinemaxX theater last year, a 2.4% increase.

EBIT profits were up an impressive 42% to €6.4 million ($8.5 million) but one-off effects drove CinemaxX into the red, with the group booking a €5.1 million ($6.8 million) loss.
