The 'Real Housewives of New York' star confirmed the news on Twitter.

Luann and Tom D'Agostino have called it quits after seven months of marriage.

The Real Housewives of New York star took to Twitter on Thursday to confirm their decision to divorce. According to a source, Luann is the one who filed.

"It's with great sadness that Tom & I agreed to divorce," she wrote. "We care for each other very much, hope you respect our privacy during this sad time!"

"She tried hard to make the marriage work but he wanted to live his bachelor life," says the source, adding that that wasn't what Luann signed up for or wanted. "He has never been married and I think he wanted the best of both worlds. Luann truly loved him."

The pair's rocky courtship has been shown over the last two seasons of the Bravo reality series, with the current ninth season (airing Wednesdays) documenting Luann, known as "The Countess," as a newlywed. Luann, 52, was previously married to Count Alexandre de Lesseps.

Her Dec. 31 Palm Beach wedding to Tom, 50, was shown briefly on the series and was featured in People magazine. Only one of her castmates attended.

Her co-star Ramona Singer, who was not invited to the wedding, was quick to react on social media Thursday, tweeting, "I am so sad for you ...."

The previous season raised accusations of infidelity when Luann caught Tom — who had a previous relationship with another co-star, Sonja Morgan — with another woman, thanks to Bethenny Frankel bringing to light photos of her then-fiance. The fallout has continued to play out on the series, with the women airing their concerns about Luann's new husband.

After that incident, Luann forgave him and wanted to move forward and still get married, which her stance this season has shown. "She really tried hard," adds the source of her and Tom, who has been referred to as a flirt on the show. Ultimately, it wasn't enough. "She knew he was going out with his friends and he wasn't home."

After rumors of a split first circulated earlier this summer, Luann told People, "The other women are just drumming up drama, and I wish they could find their own happiness." She added at the time, "Married life is so blissful. I've had the best few months of my life."

The reunion show for this season of RHONY has already been filmed, in which Luann defends Tom, according to the source. Meaning viewers will likely have to wait until next season to see the Bravo star address the split on TV, assuming she returns to the series.
