Plus, other gems we learned from his Tumblr Q&A.

Rick Owens made everyone's jaws drop on Thursday when he introduced human backpacks — models strapped on top of other models in various poses — on his spring 2016 runway. In a Tumblr Q&A on Friday, he explained where he got the crazy idea from.

"There was an Annie Leibovitz image of Leigh Bowery carrying his wife Nicola in a harness they would use for a birthing performance that I always loved," wrote Owens. "It was transgressive and sweet at the same time. I thought doing it with women would be a nice interpretation and developed other poses from there."

The designer also shared that creating his "Cyclops" collection "was really fun."

He continued: "I think people don't realize how selfish I really am ... I was doing something that I would want to go see. I didn't expect everyone to like it — just hopefully enough enough that would allow me to continue doing things I like."

In addition to answering fans' questions about the fashion industry, his philosophy on life ("happiness is gratitude for what you have") and why he likes to shock ("I like to be shocked"), Owens didn't hold back when an anonymous user asked: "do you wanna suck me off?"
