Rick Sanchez: Jon Stewart's Criticism Traumatized Me

In his first major interview since his firing from CNN, the news anchor says he was 'immobilized' then 'empowered' by the backlash.

Former CNN staffer Rick Sanchez opens up about the fallout from his notorious Siruis XM interview last September that led to his termination from the cable network.

Sanchez told The Daily Beast that his controversial statements about Jewish people controlling the media was distorted by the press, and agrees that criticism from Jon Stewart, whom he infamously called a "bigot" during the Siruis chat, has been "psychologically traumatizing." He adds, though, that after chatting with the The Daily Show host, "He made me understand the errors of my ways."

It was only recently, reveals Sanchez, that he was able to face listening to the career-shattering radio interview. "I thought it would destroy me, but it actually empowered me because when I heard it, and I read what was written, they didn't match up," he says of the media reports on the incident, which he maintains were distorted. ..."I'll probably end up being better on the air when I get back on," he concluded.
