Rihanna's Dancehall Look From "Work" Is Vacation Wear That Can Be Bought Now
A Caribbean ensemble from the Bajan star, just in time for spring break.
Rihanna's "Work" is already the earworm on everyone's playlist, but the artist waited almost a month to give her Navy a video to go with it. The long-awaited result, which was released Monday morning, is a double offering, with two very different creative — and sartorial — approaches. In director Tim Erem’s version, RiRi dons long, sleek hair and a sparkly, nipple-baring top while grinding on Drake in a "Hotline Bling"-esque, neon-pink-lit room.
But it’s Director X's version that feels like the true visual match of the song — and has us ready for spring break. Filmed at Toronto’s Caribbean restaurant The Real Jerk, Rihanna wines in the dancehall setting wearing a Rastafarian-hued, slinky net dress by Tommy Hilfiger, along with a matching crocheted bikini from the brand. The designer was inspired by his many visits to Mustique for his spring collection, which also included tropical prints, mesh tops and plenty of crocheted bikinis, dresses and bucket hats.
Paired with her dog-collar choker, knee-high gold gladiators, rings on every finger and dark lips, RiRi’s "Work" outfit is a bit maximalist for a tropical vacation. But without the accouterments, it’s actually just a tried-and-true bikini and matching cover-up. And since the dress and swimsuit are already available in stores, we’re betting that the look — just like the song — will be a hit on the beach this season.
