Rip Torn requests probation

Broke into Connecticut bank believing it was his home

Rip Torn has requested a form of probation to settle charges that he broke into a Connecticut bank in January while drunk and armed, believing it was his home.

The 79-year-old is due in court Wednesday for a hearing on his request for accelerated rehabilitation, the AP reported.

The program for first-time, nonviolent offenders erases charges after a certain probation period.

Prosecutors are opposing his request.
