Ripe Digital to launch Funk Flex TV

Online video platform Ripe Digital will launch a channel Tuesday dedicated to hip-hop DJ Funkmaster Flex.

Funk Flex TV will appear on FlowTV,, the company's hip-hop-focused site and on VOD through the company's partnerships with Time Warner, Comcast and Cablevision. The channel will feature five minute episodes, updated weekly, of the DJ interviewing celebrities and will include segments on cars, music and sneakers.

Flex has a nightly show on New York's Hot 97-FM and he previously hosted a car show on MTV Network's Spike TV, "Ride with Funkmaster Flex."

Ripe presented a new slate of programming in February and also announced shows featuring Pauly Shore, Ghostface Killah, Tyson Beckford and Danny Bonaduce. The company has also signed TV writing-producing team Ross McCall and Aaron Peters to a multiseries deal, with their "Model Dating: Hawaii," hosted by comedian Jamie Kennedy, debuting in late February.

Founded in 2002, Ripe said it receives more than 30 million views each month via three broadband sites, its mobile site and through its VOD partnerships.
