'Riverdale' Star Cole Sprouse to Star in Romantic Drama 'Five Feet Apart' (Exclusive)
'Five Feet' will mark the first film role of Sprouse's adult career.
Cole Sprouse, who stars as Jughead Jones in CW’s cult hit Riverdale, is in negotiations to topline in Five Feet Apart, a romantic drama from CBS Films.
Justin Baldoni, the Jane the Virgin star who is a director of several documentaries, is helming the feature. Academy Award-winner Cathy Schulman (Crash) is producing via her Welle Entertainment banner along with Baldoni, who produces via his company, Wayfarer Entertainment.
Written by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis, the script centers on two young people who meet and fall in love while being treated for their illnesses, knowing that they are both living on borrowed time. The story is described as being uplifting and about the people who help make every moment count as well as the transcendent power of love.
Sprouse would play one half of the couple.

Sprouse’s Riverdale has become a surprise sensation among the millennial set and the CW show, which subverts the Archie comics characters into a frothy murder mystery soap, became a hit on Netflix. The show is currently in its second season.
Before starring on Riverdale, Sprouse was a Disney child star in The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, playing one of the brothers in the show that ran from 2005 to 2008, as well as its spinoff, The Suite Life on Deck. He made his feature debut with his brother opposite Adam Sandler in 1999's Big Daddy.
Five Feet will mark the first film role of his adult career.
