Robert Downey Jr. to Present at Academy Awards

The actor recently made headlines for calling Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais "mean-spirited."

Academy Award-nominated actor Robert Downey Jr. will be a presenter at the 83rd Academy Awards ceremony, producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer announced Monday.

Downey earned Oscar nominations for his leading performance in Chaplin (1992) and his supporting role in Tropic Thunder (2008).  
The Academy Awards take place Feb. 27 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood and air live on ABC.
Downey Jr. recently made headlines when he criticized Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais, calling the show "mean-spirited with mildly sinister undertones."
